THE CAREGVING TEAM
I’ve heard people speak of “their Caregiving Team.” They are typically people who have suffered some sort of major injury, had surgery or a serious illness and they are actually referring to the multitude of doctors and specialists that they see on a regular/re-occurring basis.
I do not have a Caregiving Team for myself–just a Primary Care Physician. But the use of that phrase made me wonder about A Caregiver’s Team. And just who would hold positions on my team?

Representatives from Agencies Providing Assistance for the Elderly, Insurance Coordinators, Attorneys, Financial Advisors, Helpful Strangers &
ANYONE WILLING TO LISTEN
As I was thinking of this Caregiving Team, I realized the problem. I was a Swimmer who didn’t like participating in relays. I prefer Individual Sports where one is competing with oneself. Perhaps that is my challenge in Caregiving—I never really was a Team Player.
That’s not it! I just prefer to be on a Winning Team and as a Caregiver, this Team has experienced a lot of losses. It reminds me of the NBA Season when the Los Angeles Clippers won less than 20 games. That Basketball Season—much like this Caregiving Season was heartbreaking for me.
It is important to remember that the Most Valuable Player on the Team–the one who should receive the MVP Award (or a Reward) –is the Caregiver.
This Caregiver’s Team operates under the Authority of a Higher Power. For me, that would be God.
