PLAYING A CAREGIVER ON TV

I’m not really a Caregiver, I just play one on TV.

Playing A Caregiver on TV is quite different and a lot more amusing than being a Caregiver in Real Life.  Caregiver’s have been portrayed in many different roles on Screen.

Here are some amusing examples of people playing a “Caregiver” on TV.

Doug & Carrie with Carrie’s Father Arthur “King of Queens.”

Fran Drescher was the Star of the TV Sitcom, “The Nanny,” from 1993-1999.   As the Nanny, she was the Caregiver of 3 young Children and their dad. Today Fran Drescher is the President of SAG-AFTRA.  When news of the Actor’s Strike hit the Writers’ Picket lines in New York and in LA, a spontaneous chant of, “We Salute the F***ing Nanny!” could be heard throughout the crowds. Episodes of the Television Series are still airing in syndication/streaming platforms today–over 25 years later.  Income derived (or not) from “streaming platforms” is just one of the many issues on the Strike negotiation tables.

From the TV Series. “The Golden Girls,” TV Characters Sophia Patrillo and her daughter Dorothy.

Standing in solidarity with the Guild Members on Strike for the purpose of “Protecting our Creative Art,” the Blog contains no newly written material and instead features a Podcast Episode from “A Caregiver’s Conscience.” Podcast Episodes are produced using previously written and published Blog stories.
