CAREGIVER COMEBACK

THE CAREGIVER COMEBACK

A Comeback is described as a return to a former position or condition (as of success or prosperity). A Comeback is a “Recovery” or a “Revival.”

So, what does a Caregiver Comeback look like in real life?

In Professional Sports a Comeback looks like Darryl Strawberry (Baseball), Michael Jordan (Basketball) and Tom Brady (Football).  And the key to an athletic comeback is going, coming and going at the top of your game.  Nobody does it better than the GOAT.

In the Entertainment World, Vanessa Williams made a Comeback from disgraced Miss America to All American Actress and Singer.  I can honestly say, I wouldn’t mind marrying Rick Fox along the way.   And then there’s Drew Barrymore.

In those Comebacks, the individual overcame challenges (as perceived by everyone but themselves). to “Comeback” shining brighter than ever before.

What is a Caregiver Comeback?

Recently, I fell into a state of depression, but due to my responsibilities as my Mom’s Caregiver, I wasn’t allowed to remain at my own “Pity Party,” for very long.  But I’m still not 100% Me.

So how exactly do I Comeback?

My favorite Comebacks are those of Martha Stewart and Robert Downey Jr.  Through adversity and embarrassment in the Public Eye–they have comeback.  Martha Stewart is an American Entrepreneur and Domestic Lifestyle Innovator who was sent to prison for “Conspiracy and Obstruction of Justice.”  After “serving her time,” she returned to her former position as Queen Domestic Lifestyle Innovator with a side order of Snoop Dogg as her Bestie and accompanied by a glass of 19 Crimes Martha’s Chard. Martha Stewart has set a very fine Comeback Example.

I am not a Lifestyle Innovator, an Athlete, a YouTube personality or a Hollywood-born Actor; I am a Caregiver.

So how does the Caregiver Comeback?

And more importantly when the Caregiver Comes Back, is it as a Caregiver?

Because I’m not sure that’s what I want.  I need a Comeback but….

I do not plan to Comeback as a “Super” Caregiver in Tights and a Cool Cape with the letter “C” embroidered in my favorite color without the ability to fly.

And I don’t think that I can Comeback as a Caregiver who completes all duties without complaining and with a Stepford Wives’ Smile.

The question remains. How does the Caregiver Comeback?

Robert Downey Jr. is my best Comeback example.  He went from being, “Less Than Zero” in Hollywood Opinion polls after critically acclaimed success to winning all the Awards for his performance 25 years later in Oppenheimer.  Do U Robert Downey Jr.–the definition of a Comeback.

I spent awhile wondering what my Caregiver Comeback would look like, and I decided…

My Comeback would look a lot like the person I was.  The person that I was with the addition to this Caregiving experience but with the same qualities and core characteristics that made me, me. Because I used to love being me.

I’m an East Coast California girl with my own style of being who dreams of winning Writing Awards and celebrates key occasions with Friends on the beach.

I think that my Caregiver Comeback looks a lot like me. At least I hope so. I guess we’ll see…
